Who Do You Want To Be On The Other Side of This?

Welcome to the chrysalis!

It seems as though the Universe has really and truly sent us to our rooms to think about some things we have done to the planet and to ourselves--and perhaps decide who we want to be in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.

There are now pictures online of dolphins swimming in the canals of Italy; a breathtaking vista of the Himalyas in India, and a clear view of mountains ringing the city of Angels. Humanity is apparently taking a collective and in many says terrifying initiation, unlike any we have seen in modern times. The question is who are we becoming, both as individuals and as a group? And even more importantly how can we do human life experience better in the days, weeks and years to come?

If you're struggling to wrap your head around this, you're not alone. But I do believe we have an unprecedented opportunity we can take advantage if we're awake to it and willing to do the work. We can emerge from this chrysalis stronger, better and wiser.

One of the meanings for chrysalis is a transitional state. I think we can check the box on that with this predicament. Now for becoming clearer with regard to who and or what we want to intentionally become when we exit the chrysalis.

Body
Awakening our body will help us deal with challenges like depression and anxiety. Of course, if you're having serious challenges in this area, do consult a doctor. Also consider taking some time daily for movement.

Yoga, walking (I live in an apartment and walk indoors while I listen to music to avoid being out). Got a backyard? Great, get moving!

There are yoga and exercise videos on YouTube or you can order a book from Amazon. And there's always the Googles if you're in search of information on a particular type of physical activity to help you manage your emotional state and physicality while improving your health.

Don't forget things like Qigong or Tai Chi if you're wanting to add a spiritual component to your physical transformation.

Mind
Read! I love reading so it's a given that there will be things I will be reading during this quarantine.

Want to learn to cook Italian or vegan? There's a book for that. Probably tons of videos too. Why not learn a new language or how to do a craft? Or maybe you'd like to dip a toe into drawing or painting. The options are literally limitless.

My favorite books are spiritual in nature--and if you're more religious than spiritual you can lean into your favorite book now in a whole new way. Maybe commit to reading a number of chapters in the Bible daily.

What am I reading now? Zero Limits by Joe Vitale. And I recommend you read straight through to the appendices--you can thank me later. After that The Celestine Prophecy and The Secret of Shambala. I never get tired of these books and I always see something new when I reread them. Oh, and check out the recommended reading section of these books for my suggestions.

Spirit
Get a meditation/prayer practice going if you don't already have one. I have had to deal with anxiety off and on for years. Meditation is one of my favorite things for dealing with it. You can try the Silva Method if you're looking for something new or try downloading alpha, theta or delta meditations on your phone. There are also apps for that! ;)

One of my favorite downloads from iTunes for anxiety is something called Weightless by Marconi Union. It's been on repeat for a hot minute for me and you might like it as well. And there are also apps to help with just about everything I have mentioned.

Got a favorite spiritual movie? My favorite is What The Bleep Do We Know and you can actually find it on YouTube in its entirety.

Consider keeping a diary or maybe start a blog to share your journey + what you're personally learning during this time of social distancing. Maybe the diary will turn into a book! You never know.

And if you're alone and or find yourself really struggling, reach out. It may sound easier than it actually is, but there are people who are ready to support you if you send up a flair. Also Face Time is a thing--even if you're separated physically from those you love!

We may be forced apart physically, but we can join hearts and minds together to support one another through this challenge.

This is just a taste of what you can do with the extra time you have on your hands. I'd love to hear how you're moving through this period and what things are keeping you sane and healthy. So drop a comment and let me hear what your tips for getting through this time are.

And if you have found this post to be helpful, please share it. We're in this together and each of us can emerge stronger and better than before if we band together and intend it to be so.

Blessings of good health and safety to you and yours.
